Another High Flying Year for the "Rebels of Accountancy"

Another High Flying Year for the "Rebels of Accountancy"

Cooper Parry enjoyed a sensational 2019. The “rebels of accountancy” expanded into London, Bristol and the US, reporting double digit organic growth.

This impressive 10% organic revenue growth for the year was from continuing businesses, which puts them amongst the fastest growing firms in the UK, according to the 2019 Accountancy Daily Top 50 survey. Between 2015 and 2019, the firm has more than doubled in size to £37m.

In the same period, headcount has also more than doubled to 445. This year alone, they also made 40 promotions and hired 143 new starters, including five Partners.

Culture Trumping Strategy

Create a culture that your employees love being a part of, and a fantastic client experience is sure to follow. It’s a belief at the heart of everything Cooper Parry do.

Last year they claimed a hat-trick of awards at the European Employee Engagement Awards (EEA), including the main prize: ’The Best Company to Work for in Europe’. They featured in The Sunday Times’ Top 100 Best Companies to Work For list for the fourth year in a row, coming 13th. And hot off the press, they have been recognised by the EEA again – this time for Best Wellbeing Strategy.

Their 2019 events programme reached new heights too, with their very first “Culture Carnival” attracting 150 attendees and field-leading speakers to champion the importance of culture in a business’s success. Then there was the birth of “HUB CP” – a community created to celebrate and bring together “the most adventurous, rebellious and entrepreneurial minds of our day”, put on the map by a stream of insightful content, intimate masterclasses and the inaugural “Rebelution” event.

Sticking to their mantra of “Making Life Count”, Cooper Parry closed their offices for the day in November, with the whole team giving their time volunteering. In 2019, Cooper Parry also supported over 20 charities, including their main charity partner, Leicestershire-based Heart Link.

Investing in the Midlands, London and the US

2019 saw Cooper Parry invest in a major refurb of their East Midlands office, focused on increased flexibility and digital ways of working – all in a space that was already labelled one of the UK’s “coolest” offices.

They also expanded into areas outside the Midlands last year too, opening new office locations in Bristol, London and Dallas. They’re already offering their full range of services in London, and they’ve signalled their intent for future growth with a string of high-profile hires.

Cooper Parry IT Crossed the Pond

Microsoft named Cooper Parry IT their 2019 Global Partner of the Year for demonstrating excellence in innovation and implementation of Dynamics 365 Business Central – an all-in-one, cloud-based business management solution.

After beating entrants from 115 countries, they collected their award in July in front of 60,000 people at the Microsoft Partner Conference in Las Vegas. Then, towards the end of the year, they announced they were going Stateside again – permanently this time – opening an office in Dallas, Texas, to begin transforming businesses there.

Ade Cheatham, CEO, said:

“Wow! It’s been another fantastic year. We’ve put the power of culture front and centre once more, and being recognised and awarded for our efforts always feels good. With three new offices on both sides of the Atlantic, a world-beating IT team to complement our core business areas, and consistent engagement with some really exciting entrepreneurs, we’re in position to raise the bar again in 2020. Doubling in size since 2015, we’re ahead of the curve in our bold ambition to become a £150m+ business. We’re still Disrupting. We’re still Leading. We’re still Making Life Count. And that’s what it’s all about.”
