Property due secure retrospective planning for log cabin company

Retrospective planning has been secured for the Warwickshire site of TinyWood Homes thanks to a partnership between Roythornes Solicitors and Grace Machin Planning & Property.

TinyWood Homes is a luxury glamping franchise with sites across the UK, including Devon, Lincolnshire and Warwickshire. Set up by Aidan Reeve in 2013, TinyWood Homes offers rustic cabin style holiday accommodation, made entirely of wood and steel, set within an open countryside location.

Natasha Bicknell, planning solicitor at Roythornes, and Nick Grace, partner at Grace Machin Planning & Property, secured retrospective planning permission for six log cabins to be used for tourist accommodation.

Natasha said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to secure planning for TinyWood Homes. Following an initial site visit in April this year, we established a robust planning strategy that would allow the business to continue operating throughout the summer – its busiest period.”

Roythornes produced the Statutory Declarations which proved that the previous and existing use of the land was for tourist accommodation. In parallel, Grace Machin produced a full policy justification statement that set out matters relating to the site’s history, local and national planning policy and the wider economic benefits.

Following the formal submission of the planning application, Roythornes – as submitting agent - had regular and proactive dialogue with the council’s case officer, which resulted in a positive decision being issued within the statutory eight-week period.

Nick Grace added:

“We’ve worked with Roythornes on a number of recent retrospective planning applications, so we were confident of securing a positive result for Aidan and TinyWood Homes. Having a well evidenced and robust case to present to the Local Planning Authority can make all the difference - we’re very pleased with the positive outcome.”

Aidan Reeve, owner and franchisor of TinyWood Homes, said:

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the result and the hard work that both Natasha and Nick put into the application. The positive result will ensure that TinyWood Homes can continue to thrive as a business, provide employment opportunities and contribute to the diversity and growth of the local and wider rural economy.”
