Charlotte Steggles becomes NG equity director after rising through the ranks

Charlotte Steggles has become an equity director at NG Chartered Surveyors, marking the latest step in an eight-year journey with the East Midlands property firm.

Charlotte first joined NG as a placement student in 2018 before returning to the business in June 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She became a chartered surveyor in September 2021 before progressing through the business to associate director, director and now equity director.

Her move into the ownership of the business comes as NG enters a new phase of its development, with James McArthur taking over as managing director following Richard Sutton’s retirement after 35 years with the firm.

Charlotte said becoming an equity director was “an incredibly proud moment” and reflected the support, guidance and opportunities she had received during her career at NG.

“Becoming an Equity Director at NG is an incredibly proud moment for me and one that reflects the support, guidance and opportunities I’ve been fortunate enough to receive throughout my career with the business,” she said.

“I’m extremely grateful to James, Jude and Paul for putting their trust in me and giving me the opportunity to take this next step in my career.

“I’d also like to give a special thank you to Richard Sutton, whose leadership, mentorship and belief in me have played such a significant role in my development and taught me so much over the years.

“One of his quotes from day one that has always stayed with me is, ‘If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.’”

Charlotte has played an increasingly prominent role in the development of NG in recent years, with a particular focus on technology, innovation and finding new ways for the business to operate and deliver for clients.

She said her new position would give her the opportunity to play a greater role in shaping the firm’s future.

“Looking ahead, I’m incredibly excited about the future and the opportunity to play an even greater role in shaping the continued success and growth of NG,” she said.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved as a business and excited to help build on that together.

“Finally, I’d like to thank the entire NG team for their unwavering support and encouragement.”

James McArthur, NG managing director, said Charlotte’s progression demonstrated the type of leadership the firm wanted to develop for the future.

“I am absolutely delighted to welcome Charlotte as an Equity Director. She is a real superstar and someone whose progression within the business has been exceptional to watch,” he said.

“Charlotte brings enormous energy, drive and enthusiasm to everything she does, but what has impressed me most is her determination to keep pushing both herself and the business forward.

“She has already made a significant impact, particularly through her enthusiasm for technology, innovation and finding better ways for us to work and deliver for our clients.

“She represents exactly the kind of future leadership we want within the business. Charlotte has earned this opportunity through her hard work, ability and attitude, and I have no doubt she will play a major part in shaping the next generation and future direction of the company.

“Her appointment as an Equity Director is thoroughly deserved, and I’m genuinely excited to see what she achieves in the years ahead.”
