Leicestershire community comes together for Macmillan coffee morning

A welcoming group of residents, house hunters and members of the local community recently gathered at New Lubbesthorpe in Leicester to enjoy coffee and cake while raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

David Wilson Homes hosted its Macmillan Coffee Morning at the established development on Friday 25th September, bringing people together in support of the homebuilder’s Charity of the Year.

Held at the marketing suite on Tweed Street, the coffee morning was an opportunity for visitors to enjoy a hot drink and something sweet while making a donation towards Macmillan’s vital work supporting people affected by cancer.

Guests were treated to hot beverages and cupcakes courtesy of David Wilson Homes. The drinks were served by Café Allez and the cupcakes were made by Woody’s Kitchen, a small business based within the New Lubbesthorpe community.

Rachael Harrison, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“It was lovely to see people come along to our Macmillan Coffee Morning and take some time out for a coffee, a slice of cake and a chat, all while supporting such an important cause.

“Macmillan Cancer Support does incredible work for people living with cancer, so we were really pleased to play our part in raising funds for the charity.

“It was also a great opportunity to showcase the excellent community that residents have built here at New Lubbesthorpe, and we look forward to welcoming more residents to the new neighbourhood.”

David Wilson Homes selected Macmillan Cancer Support as its Charity of the Year in July 2026 and will continue raising funds for the charity through to June 2027.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning is one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, bringing people together over coffee and cake to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.
