LDC, the leading private equity investor, has exited its investment in Integrated Doorset Solutions Group (IDSL) to Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG) following a successful two-year partnership marked by significant growth.
Mansfield-based IDSL is a specialist, compliance-led fire door solutions provider bringing together manufacturing, inspection, maintenance and associated fire door services. The Group has established a strong position in its market, supported by an experienced management team, specialist technical expertise and long-standing customer relationships across sectors including healthcare, education and commercial and residential property.
LDC backed IDSL's management team, led by Founder and CEO Ash Malhan, in May 2024. During the partnership, LDC supported the development of the business through organic investment and targeted acquisitions, including Hartland Fire in November 2024 and Fire Doors Rite in January 2026, adding scale, broadening its customer base and bringing complementary expertise to its inspection and maintenance division.
With LDC's support, IDSL has invested significantly in its people, technology and footprint to meet the needs of its expanding customer base, including opening a new 20,000 sq. ft manufacturing facility in Mansfield.
The business has also made significant progress on its environmental, social and governance agenda. It achieved ISO 14064 accreditation to support carbon measurement, introduced a new fleet emissions reduction programme, improved waste management processes in line with new national recycling legislation and maintained its FSC certification to demonstrate the timber used in its products is sustainably sourced.
During the two-year partnership with LDC, IDSL increased revenue by 73% to £60m, grew headcount by 70% from 286 to 485 and nearly trebled EBITDA to £14m. The transaction was led by David Bains, Partner and Head of East Midlands and East of England at LDC and Portfolio Director Andrew Holman.
Ash Malhan, CEO of IDSL Group, said:
"Our partnership with LDC has helped to cement our position as a market leader. The LDC team has backed our ambitions from day one with the capital and strategic guidance we needed to expand rapidly, all without losing the commitment to exceptional service we're known for.
The continued support of Lloyds Bank has also been invaluable, including introductions across Lloyds Banking Group that have allowed us to grow our customer base. We're looking forward to accelerating our growth as part of PTSG and continuing to deliver the highest standards of fire safety compliance."
David Bains, Partner and Head of East Midlands and East of England at LDC, added:
"Ash and the management team have built an outstanding business with a strong culture, clear vision and exceptional reputation as an employer in the East Midlands. We're proud to have partnered with the team to execute a strategy that enabled the Group to grow at pace organically and through M&A. PTSG is a natural home for IDSL and we wish the team every success for the future."
The acquisition by PTSG provides IDSL with a strong platform for its next stage of development. PTSG intends to continue to invest in the business and apply its proven operating model to support growth, while retaining the specialist expertise, customer focus and entrepreneurial culture that have underpinned IDSL’s success.
LDC has a successful track record in the business services sector, having invested £671m into 16 businesses over the last decade. LDC’s current business services portfolio spans a diverse range of businesses including Eagle Eye Innovations, a provider of drone training, operating and consulting services, and Stonbury, a leading UK water and environmental sustainability specialist.
The transaction is subject to the usual regulatory approvals.
LDC and IDSL were advised by KPMG (Corporate Finance), CIL (Commercial Due Diligence), BDO (Financial Due Diligence), Brown Jacobson (Legal) and Dains (Management Tax Advice).
PTSG is backed by Warburg Pincus and Macquarie Capital. It was advised by Dean Street Advisors (Corporate Finance), RSM (Financial Due Diligence) and Gateleys (Legal).
