Bellway site managers in Nottinghamshire recognised for commitment to quality

Site managers working at Bellway developments in Nottinghamshire have been rewarded for their dedication to building quality homes for their customers.
Two Bellway site managers in the county, both based at sites in Sutton in Ashfield, were announced as winners in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) 2026 Pride in the Job Quality Awards.
Gary Archer is site manager at Bellway’s Ashlands development, off Ashland Road West, while Tim Pritchard is in charge at the neighbouring Brierley View development, which is being built under Bellway’s Ashberry Homes brand.
Tim, 46, who lives in Mansfield, has worked in construction all his life and with Bellway for four years.
He said:
“It feels good to win. I’ve been pushing hard for this as it’s been a real goal for me in my career, and it’s great to realise that goal at last.
“We’ve built a great team at this site. It’s a priority for us to train and educate the newer builders and share our knowledge so we can keep improving. The wider Bellway team is invaluable - we’re able to lean on them to get the job done.
“This site has thrown up a few challenges: it’s on a hill, which makes levelling tricky, and there’s lots of groundwater to contend with, but the team have pulled together. I take a lot of pride in working well, keeping the site tidy and maintaining a high standard of presentation. When customers move in, you can be proud of the work you’ve done to create their new home.”
Gary, 59, who lives in Nottingham, has been in the construction industry since leaving school at 16 and becoming an apprentice carpenter. He has now won 10 Pride in the Job awards.
He said:
“I still get the same buzz from winning this. It’s an accolade, it’s like the Oscars for site managers. I push for quality homes and try to make sure that every house I build is one I would be happy to live in.
“I don’t compromise, and I don’t suffer fools - people who cut corners don’t last long with me. I surround myself with good people and I have got a great team around me.”
The awards, which are now in their 45th year, are among the most highly-prized in the housebuilding industry, with only 449 from over 7,500 site managers inspected by the NHBC selected for the honour.
Judging for the awards is a rigorous process which encompasses every aspect of a site manager’s responsibilities, including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Spot checks are also carried out on the day-to-day running of the site.
The successful site managers will now go on to be judged in the next round of the competition – the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards – which will be announced in the autumn.
