Casa Hotel achieves Green Meetings Bronze Award as businesses increasingly seek more sustainable conferences

Businesses looking to reduce the environmental impact of their meetings and conferences are increasingly choosing venues with proven sustainability credentials - and one of Derbyshire's leading business hotels has now received independent recognition for exactly that.

Casa Hotel in Chesterfield has been awarded the Green Meetings Bronze Award by Green Tourism following an independent assessment of its sustainability practices across meetings, conferences and corporate events.

The accreditation recognises venues that are taking practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of business events while supporting local communities, responsible sourcing and sustainable operations.

For Casa Hotel, which has built its reputation as one of the Midlands' leading independent business hotels, the award reflects years of investment in creating a more sustainable meetings experience without compromising on quality, service or guest experience.

The four-star hotel offers 11 purpose-built meeting and conference spaces accommodating between two and 280 delegates, supported by 100 contemporary bedrooms for overnight stays, state-of-the-art AV technology and complimentary parking. Conveniently located just minutes from the M1 and Chesterfield railway station, Casa welcomes businesses from across the UK for conferences, board meetings, training days and corporate events.

Delegates also enjoy award-winning dining throughout their stay. The hotel's flagship restaurant, Cocina, was recently named Best Steakhouse of the Year at the Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards, recognising its commitment to exceptional food and locally sourced produce.

Sustainability runs throughout the hotel's meetings and events offering. Delegates are served seasonal menus featuring produce from Walton Lodge Farm Estate, owner Steve Perez's nearby 360-acre family farm, while the hotel also works closely with regional suppliers, provides electric vehicle charging and continues to invest in initiatives that reduce waste and support biodiversity.

Mark Thurman, Managing Director of Casa Hotel, said:

"More organisations are looking carefully at the environmental impact of their meetings and events, so achieving Green Meetings Bronze provides independent recognition of the work we've been doing across the business.

"Our approach has always been that sustainability should enhance the guest experience rather than compromise it. Whether that's serving produce from Walton Lodge Farm Estate, working with local suppliers or continually reviewing how we operate, it's about making thoughtful decisions that benefit both our guests and the environment.

"We're so pleased that these efforts have now been recognised through Green Tourism's Green Meetings Award."

Steve Perez, owner of Casa Hotel, added:

"We've always believed that looking after the environment and supporting local businesses simply makes good business sense.

"Having Walton Lodge Farm Estate just a few minutes from the hotel gives us a unique opportunity to reduce food miles, support local employment and give guests complete confidence in where much of the food served across the hotel comes from.

"This award recognises the commitment shown by the entire team and gives us a strong platform to continue improving."

Green Tourism has spent almost three decades supporting tourism and hospitality businesses to improve their environmental performance through independently verified assessments.

The Green Meetings Award assesses venues against a range of sustainability criteria including environmental management, responsible sourcing, community engagement and resource efficiency, helping organisations identify venues capable of supporting more sustainable business events.

The latest accreditation adds to another successful year for Casa Hotel. Alongside achieving the Green Meetings Bronze Award, Cocina was recently named Best Steakhouse of the Year at the Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards, further strengthening the hotel's reputation as one of the Midlands' leading destinations for conferences, business travel and corporate events.
