Heartwize works with organisations and volunteers to embed resuscitation skills training in workplaces and schools, helping to improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
The funding will support Heartwize in their mission to increase awareness and access to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training, helping more people respond confidently in the event of a cardiac arrest. The donation to Heartwize reinforces a partnership focused on building lifesaving skills in the workplace and local communities.
Druck first partnered with Heartwize in 2023 through its Heartwize Business Connect Progamme to deliver CPR and AED training to employees and extend that knowledge into local schools. Since then, the program has continued to grow, with almost 300 Druck employees now trained in CPR and AED use. Furthermore, some Druck employees with additional training from Heartwize have provided volunteer-led training sessions at local schools and colleges in the area.
This donation builds on that progress, enabling further training and expanding the reach of the initiative.
“At Druck, measuring pressure is what we do every day, but we also recognise the importance of helping people respond when they’re under it,” said Gordon Docherty, President of Druck. “Our partnership with Heartwize is about giving people, including our employees, the confidence and skills to act in the event of a cardiac arrest situation, when it matters most.”
“There are over 60,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year in the UK and less than one in ten of those affected survive,” said Professor William Toff, Co-Director and Trustee of Heartwize. “Over half of these events are witnessed, with 80% occurring in the home, and the immediate response of the bystander can be the difference between life and death. That’s why it’s essential that everyone learns these simple but potentially lifesaving skills.”
The funding forms part of a broader Crane Company programme (Crane Charitable Funds) supporting employee‑nominated causes worldwide. In total, Druck employees nominated 21 charities, including Heartwize, who will all receive a share of a £120k donation pool.
