East Midlands tech companies unite as Ideagen acquires Work Wallet

Derby-founded health and safety software firm, Work Wallet, joins Nottingham's Ideagen in regional tech success story

Ideagen, a global provider of technology and AI software solutions for regulated industries, has today revealed that it has acquired Work Wallet, a mobile-first environmental, health and safety (EHS) software founded and developed in Derby.

The acquisition brings together two East Midlands success stories, demonstrating the region's growing reputation as a hub for innovative software development. Ideagen will be launching Work Wallet in the US as it’s mid-market Ideagen EHS solution and customers will start to benefit from Ideagen’s world-leading AI built specifically for the rigours of regulatory compliance.

Founded in 2016, Work Wallet has established itself as a provider of intuitive EHS software designed specifically for frontline workers in high-risk industries including construction, rail, logistics and manufacturing.

It was part of the prestigious Innovate UK Scale Up programme, and has built a customer base of over 300 organizations including the NHS, Bowmer + Kirkland, Encore Global and a host of businesses across many sectors.

Jonathan Gray, CEO of Work Wallet, said:

"We've built something we're incredibly proud of – software that genuinely makes a difference to workplace safety.

“Being part of Ideagen gives us the platform to scale internationally while staying true to our roots. Like us, Ideagen understands what it takes to build world-class software from the East Midlands."

Ben Dorks, CEO of Ideagen, said:

"Work Wallet demonstrates the quality of tech talent the East Midlands produces. Together, we're building a significant UK presence in workplace safety software that can compete on the global stage.

“This acquisition gives us additional breadth and depth to serve organizations from UK SMEs through to international enterprises – all while supporting British innovation in a critical sector."

Work Wallet's mobile-first platform and proven track record in blue-collar industries will complement Ideagen's existing portfolio of solutions for regulated industries. It will continue to operate as Work Wallet in the UK for the time being but will be launched by Ideagen in the US as the Ideagen EHS specifically aimed at those businesses who want an intuitive fast-to-adopt health and safety solution.

Over 18,000 companies and close to two million daily users trust Ideagen to support them with their quality, risk, audit, health and safety and compliance needs including more than 250 global aviation organisations, nine of the top 10 global aerospace and defence corporations, the top ten accounting firms, 75% of global pharmaceutical companies, 2,000 hospital and healthcare centres, 60% of the top 20 global food & drink companies and over 1,000 government organisations. Ideagen is the Official AI Technology Partner of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
