Copper Swan Supports Acquisition of Ashbourne Dental Practice by Derbyshire Dental

Copper Swan has successfully assisted Dr Jacob (Jake) Thompson on the acquisition of TLC4 Smiles Dental Practice in Ashbourne, marking the launch of Derbyshire Dental.
This transaction represents Dr Thompson’s first step into practice ownership, building on his reputation as an experienced clinician in the Derby area. Copper Swan provided end-to-end support on the deal, delivering strategic guidance and financial funding options throughout the process.
The practice was acquired for a six-figure sum, with funding provided by Lloyds Bank. The transaction was structured through the creation of Thompson Dental Limited, which has acquired TLC4 Smiles (Ashbourne) LLP.
Dr Thompson was supported by a strong advisory team, including Nelsons, where Rachel Bennett led on legal matters, and DJH Accountants, with Steve Martin providing accounting and financial advice.
The Ashbourne practice holds one of the town’s few remaining NHS contracts, placing it in a strong position to meet high levels of patient demand.
Dr Thompson brings considerable operational and clinical experience and his move into ownership is underpinned by a proven ability to lead teams and drive performance, positioning him well to develop the practice along with implementing a practice rebrand to Derbyshire Dental.
A new 15-year lease has been agreed for the premises, providing a solid foundation for long-term growth and investment.
