Nottingham Community Housing Association Limited (NCHA), one of the East Midlands’ largest providers of affordable housing, has secured £70 million in funding from NatWest to further its growth plans.
The Nottingham headquartered housing association manages around 10,000 homes across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. Established in 1973, the organisation has a legacy of providing affordable housing and housing services that support residents to live securely and independently in their communities.
The NatWest funding strengthens NCHA’s financial capacity as it progresses a major programme of development and investment. Over the next five years, the housing association plans to deliver around 2,000 new homes as part of a wider capital investment programme of approximately £408 million.
Alongside new delivery, NCHA is continuing to invest in improving the quality and energy performance of existing homes. The organisation is investing around £14 million through to 2030 to retrofit homes and improve energy efficiency. Around 87% of its current housing stock has already achieved EPC Band C or above, and any new development will target EPC B and A wherever viable.
Naomi Dobraszczyc, Director of Finance and Resources at Nottingham Community Housing Association, said:
“This funding is an important step forward for NCHA as we deliver more affordable homes and continue investing in the quality of the homes we already manage. Demand for good quality, secure and affordable housing remains high across the East Midlands, and this NatWest facility gives us added capacity and resilience as we progress our development plans.”
NCHA also supports skills and employment across the region through Access Training, a training and apprenticeship provider jointly owned with Futures Housing. Established in 2014, Access Training supports more than 1,000 learners each year and works with employers across sectors including healthcare, construction, early years, housing and customer service. The programme helps address skills shortages, improve social mobility and support residents into sustainable work.
Andrew Dexter, Real Estate Finance Director at NatWest, added:
“Nottingham Community Housing Association plays a vital role across the East Midlands, providing affordable homes and support that helps people build stable lives. We are pleased to provide this funding, which will support the organisation’s development and investment plans and help it progress its sustainability priorities.
“NatWest is committed to supporting the UK social housing sector, and we are proud to back housing providers that are investing for the long term, both in new homes and in improving existing properties, as well as developing the next generation of talent.”
