Female founder recognised for building an award-winning community-focused clinic

Oadby Hair, Scalp and Skin Clinic Named Community Salon of the Year 2026
An Oadby-based specialist hair, scalp and skin clinic has been named Community Salon of the Year 2026 at the Organic Colour Systems Awards, recognising its commitment to education, wellbeing and community impact.
Founded by trichology practitioner, educator and speaker Desiree Djanie, Vegan Hair Salon received the award in recognition of its commitment to education, wellbeing and community impact, both inside and outside the clinic.
While many salons focus solely on hair treatments, Vegan Hair Salon has built its reputation on helping people better understand their hair, scalp and skin health through education, specialist care and community engagement.
Alongside providing consultations and treatments, Desiree regularly speaks at community events and conferences, contributes to radio discussions, and works with organisations to raise awareness of hair, scalp and skin health. Her work particularly focuses on improving confidence, promoting informed choices and ensuring specialist knowledge reaches communities where it is often less accessible.

The award also reflects the clinic's ongoing work with local organisations, speaking engagements, public education initiatives and commitment to ethical practice.
Desiree is currently conducting her consultant clinical training through the Institute of Trichologists and continues to expand her specialist knowledge through accredited continuing professional development, enabling her to support people experiencing a wide range of hair, scalp and skin concerns.
As Community Salon of the Year 2026, Vegan Hair Salon hopes the recognition will encourage more conversations around hair, scalp and skin health, particularly within communities where specialist support has historically been limited.
