Gareth Singleton will take on the role from 6 July 2026, leading the firm’s 500-strong Midlands team across BDO’s four core business areas, Audit, Tax, Deals and Consulting, Risk & Outsourcing (CR&O).
He succeeds Kyla Bellingall, who will focus on her expanded role on BDO UK’s Executive Board, where she leads growth, markets, and regions for the £1bn organisation, employing 8,000 people.
Gareth brings more than 18 years’ experience at BDO as an audit partner, with deep expertise across the firm’s mid-market client heartland. More recently, he has led the firm’s Yorkshire and North East team, overseeing more than 200 professionals as Regional Managing partner at BDO in Leeds.
In his new role, Gareth will be responsible for spearheading the future strategy and vision for the Midlands region, with the support of partners based in the firm’s Birmingham and Nottingham offices.
Commenting on his appointment, Gareth said:
“I’m delighted to be taking on the role of Regional Managing Partner in the Midlands, returning to a region that I know well.
“BDO continues to flourish and grow in the region. This is underpinned by the resilience of our market heartland – entrepreneurially-spirited, high-growth businesses driving growth in the Midlands economy – as well as the team’s deep understanding of the local market and its strong commitment to helping businesses succeed.”
“BDO is a people-powered business. By attracting and retaining the best talent in the region, the Midlands team is able to strengthen its close connections with businesses. It is those connections that allow the team to make a difference to regional growth and to the communities the firm operates in.”
Kyla Bellingall was appointed Regional Managing Partner in the Midlands in July 2022. During her time in charge, she has overseen continued growth in the region through ongoing investment in quality, talent, technology and infrastructure. She was appointed to the firm’s Executive Board in 2024.
Kyla added:
“It’s been my absolute privilege to have been part of the growth and development of our Midlands team over the last four years. I’m particularly proud of the culture we’ve built, bringing BDO’s people proposition to life and creating an environment where everyone feels valued, supported and able to thrive.
“I leave the team in extremely good hands with Gareth. He brings proven regional leadership, a strong track record of delivering growth and a clear understanding of the Midlands market, making him well placed to lead the team into its next phase.”
