Animal charity receives £1,500 donation from Northamptonshire homebuilder

The Stray Animal Fund (SAF) Cat Rescue, a Northamptonshire-based charity that helps rescue and rehome stray cats, has received a £1,500 donation from Barratt Homes to assist with its vital work.
The charity was established in 2008 when staff at a local veterinary practice wanted to help the many stray cats taken in, rather than rely on already overstretched local rescues.
Now a registered charity, SAF Cat Rescue continue to rehome cats as well as focussing on prevention and education to support the next generation of responsible pet owners.
Dawn Smith, Trustee at SAF Cat Rescue, said:
“We were absolutely over the moon to receive this generous donation from Barratt Homes.
“We are a small, volunteer-based rescue, and this donation will really help ease the pressure on our fundraising efforts. Our monthly veterinary bills continue to rise, so this incredible support will directly help provide the essential medical care our stray cats urgently need.
“Barratt Homes’ Community Fund scheme is an amazing and thoughtful opportunity to support local charity work, and we are truly grateful that the staff chose to consider us for this donation.

Barratt Homes’ contribution was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Redrow. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, it has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year.
