Lincolnshire community group cleans up village with support from homebuilder

The funding provided by the housebuilder went toward the purchase of 15 litter pickers and 15 bag hoops, enabling volunteers to safely collect rubbish from roadsides and green spaces across Corby Glen – a combined investment of over £270.

This initiative reflects a growing trend across the UK of volunteer‑led environmental clean‑ups. Across Britain in March 2026, The Great British Spring Clean brought thousands of volunteers together to pick up litter, with many schools and community groups signing up to make a tangible difference in their local areas – demonstrating the power of grassroots action in improving local environments.

Tracey Lamming, Chairman at Corby Glen Community Group, said:

“It’s lovely when people in the village come together to show we care about our village.”

Community litter‑picking not only improves local appearance but also supports wildlife and reduces harm from waste in sensitive environments – an important complement to broader efforts to address litter and fly‑tipping challenges across the country.

Rachael Harrison, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“We’re delighted to support Corby Glen Community Group with essential equipment that has already made a visible difference across the village.

“This partnership shows how residents and businesses can work together to keep our shared spaces clean and enjoyable. At Pastures Place, we want to help promote a strong sense of community and pride in the place people call home.”

The community group has also been proactively engaging with Corby Glen Primary School, arranging for pupils to take part in their own litter picking efforts around the village.
