3 Bunkers Challenge Surpasses £70,000 for Local Charities

More than 30,000 steps walked, 70 miles travelled and three golf courses completed — the 2026 Three Bunkers Challenge has now raised more than £70,000 for local charity Big C little c.

Now in its sixth year, the annual fundraising challenge was organised by Simple Marketing Consultancy (based Radcliffe on Trent)

and saw teams from DRP Advisors, Shakespeare Martineau and Michael Reed Wealth Management race to complete 27 holes of golf across Morley Hayes, Charnwood Forest Golf Club and The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club within just 10 hours.

Funds raised will support local cancer research projects and the NSPCC. This year’s event also placed a particular focus on palliative care, with John Eastwood Hospice in Mansfield among the beneficiaries. The hospice entered two teams featuring players from Forest Impressions, Lloyds Bank, Coxmoor Golf Club, Print Co, Missing Element Mortgages and Equity Release and Tech Service Partners.

Event organiser Bev Cook said:

“We are incredibly proud to have raised such a significant amount and move closer to our £100,000 cumulative fundraising target. After visiting last year’s beneficiary, the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre at the University of Nottingham, we saw first-hand the impact this challenge can have in supporting vital research and care.”

Founded to support charities helping people affected by cancer and to improve the wellbeing of children, Big C little c continues to fund a range of community and healthcare initiatives.

Big C little c Co-Founder Colin Shaw said:

“Cancer Research UK recently reported that a new cancer case is diagnosed every 80 seconds in the UK. At the same time, Office for National Statistics figures reveal that nearly one in three adults in England and Wales experienced some form of abuse during childhood. Our aim is to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured and when every child and young person is free to live a happy and fulfilling life.”

Co-founder Andrew Springhall added:

“This year marks the 40th anniversary of Childline, and a proportion of the funds raised will be ring-fenced for the Nottingham helpline to help deliver more vital frontline services for local children.”

Following a recent rebrand and the launch of a new website, Big C little c is now preparing for its next fundraising event — a Summer BBQ at Hart's Hotel in Nottingham. Tickets are available via the charity’s website: https://bigclittlec.co.uk/event/big-c-little-c-bbq/
