Buxton is set to step back in time as the town hosts its much‑loved 1940s Weekend, transforming the historic heart of the spa town into a vibrant celebration of wartime Britain.
Taking place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May, the event promises an immersive, family‑friendly experience filled with music, history, and vintage charm.
Through the weekend, visitors can enjoy authentic history displays, meet reenactors in period uniforms, explore recreated encampments, and discover what life was like on both the home front and the front lines. Classic military vehicles, from jeeps to lorries, will be on show, offering fantastic photo opportunities for enthusiasts and families alike.
A bustling vintage market will bring together traders offering 1940s fashion, antiques, collectibles, and homeware, while live music and entertainment throughout the town will capture the unmistakable spirit of the era.
The highlight of the weekend is a special Saturday night event featuring the Ashby Big Band, bringing swing, rhythm, and dance-floor energy to Buxton for an unforgettable evening of 1940s music.
