Big C represents cancer and little c children. In just the past week, Cancer Research UK reported that a new cancer case is diagnosed every 80 seconds in the UK. At the same time, figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal that nearly 1 in 3 adults in England and Wales experienced some form of abuse in childhood.
The 2026 Three Bunkers challenge takes place on Friday 22 May. It will start at 6.30am and involve 24 golfers playing 27 holes across three East Midlands counties at Morley Hayes, Charnwood Forest and The Nottinghamshire. Participants have to walk 10 miles and drive 70 miles to complete the challenge in under 10 hours.
Commenting on the event, now in its 6th year, organiser Elliot Cook from Simple Marketing Consultancy said,
“Big C little c was founded to encourage businesses to raise funds that can be distributed to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured and all children and young people are free to lead a happy life. Sadly, research has not got to that point just yet and so places like John Eastwood Hospice exist to care for local people that have been diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses. We are grateful for their support and that they will also benefit from the event."
Alongside Simple Marketing Consultancy, the companies participating this year include, DRP Advisors, Shakespeare Martineau Solicitors and Michael Reed Wealth Management. The companies in the John Eastwood teams include Forest Impressions, Lloyds Bank, Coxmoor Golf Club, Print Co, Missing Element Mortgages and Equity Release, and Tech Service Partners.
Andrew Springhall from Big C little c said,
“The £60,000 raised so far by this event has previously benefited CRUK, NSPCC, and the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre at Nottingham University. This year by adding another deeply important cause to the mix: palliative care, we can help patients and their families access a place where there is specialist care and support to make the most of their remaining days.”
The organisers also welcome support via online donations or gifting prizes which can be auctioned during the presentation.
