Housebuilder brings stories to life at Derbyshire School

A leading developer has helped bring stories to life for young learners at St Oswald’s Primary School in Ashbourne, with an exciting storytelling session.
David Wilson Homes arranged for professional storyteller, Mark Fraser, to spend the afternoon captivating the imaginations of the schoolchildren through his interactive storytelling.
In two engaging 30 minute-long sessions, Mark brought storytelling to life through various captivating narratives. The sessions encouraged the imagination and creativity of Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two classes – with each story tailored to the respective curriculum.
Mrs Elliott, Literacy Lead at St Oswald’s Primary School, said:
“The storyteller was amazing, his two sessions captured the children’s imagination, and they were hanging off his every word. It was an excellent way to promote reading for pleasure.”
Storyteller Mark Fraser added:
“It was a fantastic experience working with St Oswald’s Primary School. Traditional storytelling offers so much, particularly for children, and in today's world, its value is more important than ever.
“Thank you to David Wilson Homes for making this session possible, and to the school for being so cooperative and engaged. I really hope the children enjoyed the magic of storytelling.”
The school was selected to receive a storytelling workshop due to its close proximity to the homebuilder’s Ashbourne Airfield development on Harrison Way in Ashbourne.
