Working closely with its CSR team, the business is encouraging employees in the East Midlands to donate items such as food, toiletries - with a particular focus on women’s essentials - and Easter eggs at a central drop-off point at its headquarters in Chesterfield. These donations will be going to the town’s local food bank to support those in need near Gi Group’s headquarters.
The support extends further, as the recruiter is calling on teams across all its 17 UK hubs from as north as Newcastle to as south as Bristol, to partner with their local food banks to ensure the business is having a positive impact on each of the communities it serves across the country. The business is aiming to get as many donations as they can before the deadline on the 10th April.
Gi Group UK has regularly supported Chesterfield Foodbank over the years through its Easter appeal and other fundraising initiatives, including last year’s Christmas Central Function event, which generated 156kg of donated items.
Sophie Whaite, Business Support Coordinator at Gi Group, said:
“Rolling out this initiative across all of our hubs is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
“We’ve already had a great response from our teams, with colleagues generously donating a range of essential items. However, there is still time to contribute, and we’re encouraging as many people as possible from across all of our teams to get involved and donate what they can before the deadline.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, will help support local food banks and ensure individuals and families have access to the provisions and treats that will help spread joy this Easter.”
During its recent annual conference, the business held a treasure hunt with each letter spelling out the business’s mantra – Smart, Together, Against all odds. Each word completed by the teams equalled a donation amount. The company then rounded up the total to the nearest thousand to give a grand total of £3,000.
Jacqueline DeVeaux, Chesterfield Foodbank Communications, Engagement and Funding Manager said:
"With the pressures our foodbank is currently facing from rising running costs and higher food prices, this generous donation from Gi Group could not have come at a better time. Gi Group always put so much effort and creativity into their fundraising, so it is wonderful to know that the team were able to have so much fun to help our cause. We're immensely grateful for their support for our foodbank and community, thank you!"
Beyond food bank support, the company’s hub in Grimsby is also working with North East Lincolnshire Council to support foster children this Easter. As part of this partnership, the team will donate Easter eggs for the Council’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 8th, helping to create a fun and memorable experience for children in care.
