Marrons’ Sarah Marsh appointed Chair of RTPI East Midlands Young Planners Committee

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) has appointed Marrons’ principal planner Sarah Marsh as Chair of its East Midlands Young Planners Committee - a regional network that brings together early-career professionals to build connections, share knowledge, and strengthen the future of the planning profession.

Based in the consultancy’s Nottingham office, Sarah will lead the regional committee in delivering a programme of events and initiatives designed to connect planners in the early stages of their careers, encouraging collaboration, professional development, and knowledge sharing across the industry.

Sarah said:

“I wanted to join the Young Planners Committee because it plays an important role in creating a welcoming space for those starting out in the profession to meet others in a similar position and build connections across the industry.

“Early-career networks are valuable not only for introducing the concept of professional networking, but also for creating opportunities for training and knowledge sharing that help people grow and develop within the profession.”

In her role as Chair, Sarah will also sit on the National Young Planners Chairs Panel, which brings together representatives from across the UK to share insights and coordinate activity that supports young planning professionals nationally.

She added:

“The role provides a great opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the country and gain a broader perspective on the profession. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and continuing to learn from others within an industry that I’ve really enjoyed being part of for the past eight years.

“It also reflects Marrons’ growing presence within the sector that we have colleagues contributing to a number of RTPI committees and roles, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to supporting both its people and the profession more widely.”

The East Midlands Young Planners Committee hosts a variety of professional and social events throughout the year, helping planners across the region to build connections and develop their careers.

This year’s programme will include returning events such as the Spring Scavenger Hunt and Christmas Quiz, alongside new initiatives designed to reach a wider audience across the East Midlands.

Andrew Gore, partner at Marrons said:

“Sarah’s appointment as Chair is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the energy and commitment she brings to the profession. The RTPI’s Young Planners network plays a vital role in supporting the next generation of planners, creating opportunities for collaboration, professional development, and the exchange of ideas across the industry.

“At Marrons we place real value on our people contributing to the wider profession, and Sarah’s appointment reflects both her personal dedication and the strength of expertise within our planning team. I have no doubt she will make a significant contribution to the Young Planners network in the East Midlands.”
