Accountancy ascends into the Peaks for taxing marathon fundraiser

Accountants at UHY have swapped the city streets for the hilly peaks to take on a national challenge in support of Dementia UK.
On Friday 19 September, forty people across the firm’s offices, including 11 from Nottingham, came together to hike either a half or full marathon through the Peak District National Park to raise vital funds for its charity of the year.
Ten colleagues completed a full marathon distance, which consisted of 26 miles, and 30 took on a half-marathon, raising more than £16,000 for Dementia UK.

UHY nationally has been raising money for Dementia UK as its nominated charity since 2024, with all its fundraising activity going towards supporting the charity with continuing its crucial work with families and individuals affected by Dementia.
Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia, with 944,000 people currently living with the condition. Dementia UK is the nation’s only specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Its specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing advice and support, to anyone affected by dementia, whenever it is needed.
Not afraid of a challenge, colleagues across UHY’s UK firms have previously walked 45km around London’s Royal Parks, raising more than £18,000 for Dementia UK in 2024.
Its dedication to charity and community initiatives has been a part of the firm’s culture for years, with a team of 125 having completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge for its previous nominated charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, contributing to the massive £40,000 raised for the charity.
These challenges highlight UHY’s long-standing commitment to giving back and uniting teams across the UK to make a real difference for charities and the communities they support.
