Marrons expands Nottingham planning team with trio of strategic hires

Marrons has strengthened its Nottingham team with the appointment of three new planning specialists as the planning, design and development consultancy continues its rapid national growth.

Joining from Savills, Joe Oakden has been appointed as an associate director. A chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, Joe brings with him experience across the full planning lifecycle, having advised on a wide range of residential, educational, commercial, healthcare and later-living developments for both public and private sector clients.

At Marrons, he will focus on urban centre development schemes, strategic land promotion and application submissions.

Joe said:

“It’s an exciting time to be joining Marrons – one of the fastest-growing planning consultancies in the UK. Being part of a progressive, ambitious and dynamic multi-disciplinary team was a key factor in my decision to join.

“I’m looking forward to helping clients navigate complex planning processes and identifying new opportunities to unlock development potential and deliver value.”

Also joining the Nottingham office are senior planners Alex Scully and Sam Muir. Alex joins from Brown & Co, where he advised predominantly rural clients on development opportunities, managing a diverse caseload from outline planning to appeals.

Alex said:

“Marrons offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of in-house disciplines and ambitious projects. I’m eager to learn as much as possible, deliver high-quality developments and work towards gaining chartership.”

Sam arrives with a broad range of planning experience across both the public and private sectors, having held roles at Pegasus Group, Ashfield District Council and Waverley Borough Council. With qualifications in town planning, geography and law, Sam will primarily focus on residential planning and has a particular interest in planning appeals.

He said:

“Marrons offers a unique freedom to focus on areas I’m passionate about. I’m also looking forward to deepening my understanding of the plan-making process and contributing to meaningful residential development schemes.”

The appointments come as Marrons continues to respond to rising demand for its planning expertise across the Midlands and beyond. The Nottingham team plays a key role in delivering the consultancy’s services, which include strategic land promotion, development management and securing planning permissions across a range of sectors.

Andrew Gore, partner at Marrons, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Joe, Alex and Sam to the Nottingham office. Their collective experience across both private and public sectors, combined with their ambition and drive, makes them a fantastic addition to the team.”

David Pendle, partner at Marrons, added: “As demand for our services continues to grow, their appointments will help us unlock even more opportunities for our clients.”
