For the second year in a row, Market Harborough Building Society (MHBS) has been named one of the Sunday Times Best Places to Work, a distinction that places the Leicestershire-based mutual among the UK’s most admired employers.
The accolade, based on a rigorous nationwide survey of employee satisfaction and workplace culture, reflects more than just good management — it tells the story of a Society where people feel they belong.
“This recognition is a testament to the incredible people who make up our Society,” said Iain Kirkpatrick, Chief Executive of MHBS. “It reflects the values-led culture we’ve built together — one where colleagues feel heard, supported, and inspired to do their best work.”
At MHBS, culture isn’t a buzzword — it’s a lived experience. From inclusive leadership to a strong sense of purpose, the Society has cultivated an environment where colleagues are not only empowered but also deeply connected to the communities they serve.
Earlier this year the Society announced a £250,000 donation to its community fund — a bold step forward in their mission to support good causes across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The donation is part of the Society’s broader Thrive! Agenda, a long-term strategy to give back and foster brighter futures.
A significant portion of the funding will go toward Thrive! Forward, a new programme designed to support young people with mental health, financial literacy, career planning, and employability skills. And there’s more to come — exciting updates about Thrive! Forward will be announced very soon.
This latest recognition from The Sunday Times underscores Market Harborough Building Society’s enduring reputation as a workplace where values, purpose, and people come first.
In a time where colleague expectations are evolving rapidly, the Society continues to set the standard for what a modern mutual can be — one that not only delivers for its members but also invests deeply in the wellbeing and growth of its colleagues.
