The book, ‘10 Mini Blogs for Every Female Entrepreneur’, draws on Danielle’s decade of experience launching & growing her own successful business as an operations manager for independent business owners in the East Midlands, and her 10 years’ of experience in her previous corporate career as a Creative Manager in retail.
In the book, which debuted at #1 in the small business charts on Amazon at the start of February, Danielle has pulled together the top 10 lessons she learnt over her first ten years in business, including the juicy secrets no-one really shares about the realities of business life, the inspiration to start, grow and keep going when times get tough, and the mistakes to avoid.
This book is for female entrepreneurs at any stage of their business journey and is a relatable, funny and utterly honest look at what it takes to start, sustain and grow a business as a woman recovering from trauma and finding her feet in her 40s.
Danielle said
“As a new business owner, it can be incredibly confusing not knowing what you need to learn, do or even buy first, and a lot of people get sold the ‘snake oil’ of quick solutions and promises of success without ever seeing results - wasting money and time.
“I hope that by sharing my experiences, lessons, and being open about my opinions, I can help other women perhaps pivoting their lives and following their passions to focus on the simple steps to take to identify and create their own version of success, without spending thousands on wasted courses or ‘miracle’ solutions.”
In 2015, Danielle started her business Goldspun Support driven by a mission to stop female business owners ever feeling overwhelmed to the point of burnout that she had felt in her corporate career. After being pushed to the brink of a breakdown in her previous role, and knowing that she could not go back to the trauma and stress of a corporate environment, she took a huge risk and went it alone.
Over the last decade, Danielle has witnessed just how confusing the entrepreneurship journey can be, with conflicting advice, scaremongering and unrealistic expectations all exacerbated by the growth of the online entrepreneurial world. After 10 years in business, she has decided that now is the time to start fighting this narrative and removing the pressure of appearing to be perfect from day one.
Although just two months into 2025, it’s already been a big year for Danielle. In January, she launched the Business and a Brew Podcast, alongside fellow Nottingham business owner Simon Pryce, which takes an accessible approach to discussing business brands, stories and shockers. This relatable and easy-listening podcast had a massively successful launch and reached an enviable top 20 position in its first month with an already devoted audience giving five star reviews, and is another way that Danielle is working to support small business owners everywhere.
Danielle continued:
“It’s taken me ten years to get to where I am and I naively thought that the entrepreneurial journey would be a straightforward path with steady growth. The reality is very different and I’ve learnt so much along the way. To celebrate our decade in business, it feels right to share what I’ve learnt and to help other women avoid confusion, spending money they don’t need to, or feeling like they're not doing enough. If I can shortcut the journey and take away the stressing and guesswork, helping even one woman, then I’ll be happy.”
