Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

The brainchild of founders Sarah Goode and Emma Ward, the Hub recently moved into a new home within the SOFA building on Nottingham Road in Loughborough, but it needed help to purchase equipment and tools that members of the local community can borrow or use, for home DIY, arts, crafts or hobbies as part of their innovative Library of Things.
The Hub turned to the Chesterton House Foundation, which was pleased to award a £1,000 grant to help the Eco Hub to buy the things it needed and launch on time.
The Foundation has been set up to support local initiatives that create lasting social and environmental impact, and is now in its second full year of operation, having provided grants to a variety of local projects totalling over £18,000. Andy Jervis is Chair of Trustees and also Chairman of local business Chesterton House Group, a successful financial advice firm based in Loughborough. He said,
“It has long been our ambition to establish a charity that can provide direct help to projects within Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire that are making a real difference in the community. The Charnwood Eco Hub is a prime example of grassroots action driving meaningful change, and we’ve been pleased to help them to deliver this valuable service to people in the area. By offering access to essential items without the need for outright purchase, Charnwood Eco Hub encourages sustainable living and helps reduce waste and we think that their idea of a Library of Things is one well worth supporting."
Emma Ward, Director of Charnwood Eco Hub, expressed her appreciation for the funding:
“The support from the Chesterton House Foundation has been invaluable in getting the Hub off the ground. This space is all about creativity, learning, and sustainability, and it’s fantastic to see the community already benefiting from it.”
The Library of Things officially opened its doors on Saturday 1st February, and is available to all. To find out more about their opening times visit their website at www.charnwoodecohub.org or Facebook page.
The Chesterton House Foundation remains dedicated to championing community-led projects that drive positive change. By funding initiatives like the Charnwood Eco Hub, the Foundation continues its mission to support local community projects that are clearly making a difference to people’s lives.
