Television Antiques Expert Takes Centre Stage at Charity Event

Television personality and Melbourne-based antiques dealer and auctioneer Irita Marriott will be the guest of honour at a special fundraising charity event on Friday February 28.

Guests at the event at Great Northern Classics will be invited to take one item for valuation by Irita who is best known for her regular appearances on BBC1’s Antiques Road Trip, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, Bargain Hunt as well as fronting her own series on Really TV entitled The Derbyshire Auction House.

All the money raised at the event will be donated to Derbyshire’s leading child exploitation charity Safe and Sound which works to protect and support children, young people and families across the county whose lives are affected by online grooming, child sexual exploitation, County Lines, trafficking, modern slavery and radicalisation.

The evening event has been sponsored by Timms Solicitors which has offices in Derby, Ashby, Burton and Swadlincote.

It will include a dinner, presentation and Q&A by Irita Marriott and introduction by Safe and Sound CEO Tracy Harrison who said:

“This is a totally new event for Safe and Sound and I am grateful to our committee of volunteer fundraisers who have made this evening possible.

“I hope that, as well as being an interesting insight into the world of antiques, we will be able to raise much-needed funds for our charity which supports some of the most vulnerable young people and families in our local communities.”

Timms Solicitors managing partner Fiona Moffat concluded:

“We are delighted to be supporting Safe and Sound with this innovative event and, who knows, some of the guests may discover they have some hidden treasures of their own!

“We are particularly pleased that the event showcases a local female entrepreneur who is breaking through the glass ceiling in what has previously been regarded a male dominated profession which allies very much to our own company ethos.”
