LWA Burns Night raises £820!

LWA Burns Night raises £820!

Living Without Abuse (LWA), a local domestic abuse support charity, held their annual Burns Night Fundraising Supper on Saturday 25th January.

Nook Corner Catering from Anstey, sponsors of the event prepared a sumptuous traditional Burns Night supper featuring haggis, neeps and tatties.  Bill the Bagpiper entertained the guests whilst Cllr Paul Baines proposed the toast to the haggis and the Immortal Memory Address.

The Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE, recited ‘To a Mouse’ and drew the raffle.

Thanks to all who supported including Charnwood Brewery who donated a crate of beer for the ‘haggis, neeps and tatties’ game plus Paul Corrigan and Cllr Deborah Taylor who proposed the toasts - and all the guests who got into the spirit clapping the pipes and playing the game.

We're delighted to announce that £820 was raised to support our clients.

Slàinte Mhath!

Emily Corrigan, Head of Fundraising:

‘Everyone had such a fabulous evening – it’s super to be able to raise awareness and funds for the charity whilst having some fun, for a great cause.  We are so thankful to all those who donated raffle prizes and came along on the evening to get into the spirit of the event.’
