The energy company’s first retail store is set to open at Derbion later this month.
Located on Level 1, near Frasers, Tomato Energy will use its shop at Derbion to continue its mission of empowering UK communities to generate their own energy and power their homes affordably with a series of tariffs designed to shake up the energy market.
The retailer will help locals take charge of their energy consumption, either by bringing no-up-front cost domestic solar to local homes, or by exploring a series of tariffs that can keep bills well below the price cap or making the most of renewable energy available on the grid.
Community is at the forefront of the store, which will provide a focal point for locals keen to learn about how to save money and take steps to take charge of their own energy footprint.
Beth McDonald, Managing Director at Derbion, commented:
“We’re thrilled that Tomato Energy has selected Derbion as the home for its first physical retail store.
“Tomato Energy is dedicated to providing great service and making energy accessible for everyone. We’re confident that the arrival of the energy provider will not only help locals save on their energy costs but also contribute to a brighter, more sustainable future.
“We look forward to welcoming Tomato Energy to Derbion soon and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make.”
Dominika Walker from Tomato Energy added:
“There was no better place for our first ever physical store than Derbion – who we felt really matched our enthusiasm for community spirit, not to mention our desire to do things a little differently.
“Community is a huge focus for Tomato Energy – and long-term we envisage creating a network of properties in Derby and Derbyshire that are able to collectively generate and benefit from renewable energy without prohibitive upfront costs.
“More than anything, we think people are tired of faceless power companies who seem to make endless profits without giving back. We can’t wait to open the store, meet the community and show how, together, we can take charge of our energy future.”
As well as offering a no up-front cost option for households to install their own solar panels and batteries to lower energy bills, Tomato Energy is bringing personalised energy tariffs to the market, including options for customers to use more renewable energy when it’s on the grid, stay at least 10% below the energy price cap.
