A Managing Director who is a manufacturing expert
“When the position became vacant due to the retirement of Justin Davis, it was an opportunity for the shareholders to re-evaluate the business and possibly bring in a Managing Director who was new to the TEX Plastics. However, the shareholders were unanimous in their belief in Guy and his understanding of the business from the shop floor up. In his capacity as Production Director & General Manager, Guy has transformed the Derby facility. His focus on making the operational elements as efficient and productive as possible has enabled the Derby site to increase both its capacity, and the range in scale of the plastic parts it produces.”

From cell leader to Managing Director
Guy's journey has been incredible and is testament to the culture of TEX Plastics and its commitment to a 'Home Grown Timber' approach to training and personal development. Guy is a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work, commitment and belief. Starting as a cell leader, Guy moved into processing – then became shift manager. It’s his understanding of every operation within the business which makes him such a great asset to the company. His ideas and vision for the business are exciting and he now spearheads a very talented, ambitious and experienced leadership team. Everyone in the TEX Group is excited to see what the future brings and wish Guy every success in his new role.
TEX Plastics and 'Home Grown Timber'
My journey with TEX Plastics and a career in injection moulding isn't something I imagined as a school leaver. Starting as cell leader in 1992 with AK Precision Mouldings, who had been purchased by the TEX Group the previous year, I had no idea of what the future held. However, I did have a strong belief in my capability and realised if I wanted to succeed, I needed to be the driving force in my life story. So I worked hard, looked at what I could do to make a difference. Fortunately, I was in an environment where that energy and enthusiasm was recognised, nurtured and rewarded.
When I look at the leadership team in TEX Plastics, those around me have a very similar story. It's not typical that a leadership teams work anniversaries are measured in decades - but it is at TEX Plastics. Everyone here understands their journey and can see the potential in both our business and the younger generations who join the company. Many of the ‘new starts’ simply see it as a filler job until something better comes along. We see their potential and it's our job to create the opportunities for them to find their passion, so they can shine and develop a career path in which they can excel.
TEX Plastics is more than just a moulder
Marketing strap lines are typically gimmicks with little foundation; I believe actions speak louder than words. However, the same attention to developing our people has always also been placed on our client base. There are lots of plastic moulders in the UK, and there are lots more in the globally 'offshore sourced' low-cost economy. Which is why we've always looked at the bigger picture - what else can we do for the client? This has driven a 'can do' culture within TEX Plastics.
As a result, we've become regarded as one of the most technical and innovative moulders in the UK. Yes, this involves solving the client’s plastic component challenges and making a better and/or more cost-effective part. However, our solutions also look beyond the part and explore the value we can add in their product development, supply chain and manufacturing operations. This is why we also provide the most extensive range of services from design to postproduction operations and logistics support.
"I look forward to taking TEX Plastics on the journey to reach its full potential, and I believe this will be done, by helping our clients and our people achieve their full potential."
