Amazon competes in knockout fundraiser

The team at Amazon’s Coalville fulfilment centre has taken part in the annual It’s a Knockout fundraising event in aid of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Leicestershire.

Rainbows cares for hundreds of families from across the East Midlands who have a baby, child or young person with a terminal or life-limiting illness. Amazon in Coalville has supported Rainbows since 2020.

To support the charity, ten Amazon employees competed for points across six different events to test teamwork, strength and stamina. The Amazon team raised and donated £1000 to Rainbows in support of the work they do.

Hannah, an employee at Amazon in Coalville who took part in the charity event, said:

“The event was a great way to have some fun while raising money for such a great charity.”

Kirsty Coxon, Rainbows Corporate partnership Fundraiser, added:

“We would like to thank everyone at Amazon for taking part in our It’s a Knockout event and for raising such an incredible amount of money. We really do rely on our corporate supporters to help us raise vital funds so we can provide care to hundreds of families at the hospice, in hospital and at home.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The initiative has donated more than 4 million surplus goods to over 400,000 families across Scotland, Wales, Greater Manchester, and London.

Amazon has supported more than 700,000 students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.

Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
