The free event has been organised by the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) and takes place on Saturday, August 10th from 11am.
Families will be dazzled, delighted and transported into a world of wonder with a selection of live outdoor street theatre, balloon modelling and bubble shows.
Performers from Yellow Bus Events will bring Derby’s Market Place to life with a series of circus-style acts and crazy antics. There will be jaw-dropping performances from daring acrobats and mesmerising acts from hilariously funny characters.
Also joining the line-up will be Granny Turismo – the world’s first shopping trolley dance display team who will entertain audiences on their souped-up shopping trolleys blasting out their favourite songs.
Alongside the street theatre acts, visitors will be able to enjoy other free activities including a circus skills workshop and games of crazy golf.
Yellow Bus Events has over 25 years of experience delivering street theatre to city streets and festivals up and down the UK. Many of its street performers have appeared in London’s Covent Garden, Glastonbury, and the Edinburgh Festival.
Eve Taylor, BID Project Executive for Cathedral Quarter, said:
“Last year’s Cathedral Quarter Carnival event was extremely popular, and we know families enjoyed watching the entertainment. This year we are really excited about welcoming Yellow Bus Events to Derby.
“We have seen them in action and the performers are absolutely wonderful. We know they are going to bring the most fantastic show to Derby, and we know how much families are going to love it.
“The BID team works hard to bring this kind of outdoor theatre to the city and Derby’s Market Place is a great stage to showcase this entertainment.”
