MHR recognised as one of the UK’s Best Places to Work

Nottinghamshire-based HR, payroll, and finance firm MHR is today recognised as one of the UK’s Best Places to Work 2024, according to The Sunday Times.

The nationwide workplace survey honours and celebrates Britain's top employers and acknowledges the best workplaces for employee engagement and wellbeing – MHR have been recognised in the category of Big Organisation (250-1,999 employees). Inclusion in the annual rankings is a prestigious achievement, with a robust set of criteria derived from a 35-question employee survey.

Employee wellbeing and engagement have long been a priority for MHR and are among many reasons the company has retained so many of its long-serving employees. In 2023, MHR announced the consolidation of its employee training programme into the MHR Academy in an effort to enhance and bolster its investment in employees across HR, payroll, learning and finance. This supplements the business’ existing apprenticeship programme, which already employs 16 apprentices across the organisation, with the aim to increase this figure up to 40 per year.

The East Midlands-based specialist, who employs just over 800 (867) employees in the region, has a rich history of employee development and retention, with its CEO, Anton Roe, growing through the business from an apprentice all the way up to his current position.

Jessica Mills, Chairman of MHR, said:

“As a family-owned business, creating the right environment and a workplace where people feel free and supported to not just grow, but thrive in their roles is incredibly important. This has been a cornerstone to the success we have achieved since my father, John Mills, founded MHR 40 years ago.

“It is wonderful to see MHR recognised in these prestigious annual rankings, alongside such an array of well-known and positive employers. I would like to thank everyone at MHR for their contribution to making this such a rewarding place to work – and I’d like to congratulate all of the other businesses included on the list.”
