Nottingham Trent University celebrates 15 years of partnership with Santander Universities

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has celebrated 15 years of partnership with Santander Universities with the signing of a new three-year agreement.
Since 2012, when the partnership was first formalised, Santander Universities has awarded £1.38 million to 1,483 NTU students.
These funding opportunities have enabled NTU students to gain valuable work experience and to drive enterprise benefitting both the local and regional economies.
Through the three pillars of education, employability and entrepreneurship the partnership has a strong focus on delivering opportunities to all students, with the aim of improving graduate outcomes.
Projects during the partnership have included:
- Internships
- Student overseas volunteering projects
- Research project funding
- Professional insight experience for soon-to-be graduates to prepare for the working environment
- Support for NTU student business start-ups
- Brighter Future Grants
NTU student Uchechukwu Ibeh, studying LLB Law with Business, had the opportunity to complete a Santander Placement at NLS Legal as part of her degree.
She said:
“This experience was nothing short of transformative, giving me a glimpse into the world of a solicitor and the invaluable role they play in providing much needed advice to those seeking it. From mastering the intricacies of Clio, a law-based data program, to understanding the real-world challenges faced by legal professionals, every moment was enriching. Volunteering at NLS Legal gave me a chance to help individuals and communities in need of justice. As I look ahead, I am excited and inspired to continue my journey, fuelled by the knowledge and skills gained during these two remarkable weeks. Here’s to growth, learning, and pursuing meaningful opportunities!”

Nearly 6,500 NTU students are currently registered on the Santander Open Academy platform which offers scholarships across the globe, and a breadth of training, skills and tips for improving student career paths.
