Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

The Nottingham office of accountancy UHY Hacker Young is continuing to develop the next generation of audit trainees and accounting and business services trainees, with its latest raft of graduates, placement undergraduates and school leavers making their mark at the firm.

Many of the cohort have been educated in the city, including Rohan Dhillon and Callam Boultby who are undertaking their third-year placements as undergraduates studying at Nottingham Trent University. Having both joined as accounting and business services assistants, they are now furthering their professional development with industry experience at UHY, which is one of the UK’s top professional services firms for training and development.

Rohan, who is studying economics with banking and finance, said:

"When searching for a placement opportunity, the training role at UHY really jumped out to me. The role offers lots of variety and enables me to explore which services and sectors particularly appeal to me – all with the added bonus of being convenient to my needs as a student in Nottingham. The team is very sociable, which has helped me and my fellow trainees to feel settled and an enthusiastic environment to develop in.”

Audit trainees Jess Sinfield, James Whiteman, Aidan Finn and Andrei Roca have all joined the UHY team following graduation, where they will be undertaking Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualifications over the next three years.

Andrei, who joined after graduating with a degree in accounting and finance from Nottingham Trent University, said:

“After an initial training period at another firm, I felt that I needed to make a change. UHY’s commitment to a healthy work-life balance through the training process, with a team of incredibly supportive partners, really appealed to my development needs and career aspirations.”

Cameron Wilmot has also joined the UHY team as an accounting and business services trainee, having recently completed his sixth form studies. He will be learning the ropes of the industry, predominantly supporting with bookkeeping for clients.

He said:

“I really enjoyed finance and mathematics at A Level and was confident that a training opportunity after sixth form was the right choice for my career. UHY offers great flexibility in my work and is enabling me to develop industry skills immediately after sixth form.”

James Simmonds, partner at UHY, said:

"UHY offers to trainees a great first impression of a career in audits as well as accounting and business services, allowing talented individuals to discover which pathway works for them. We have an unwavering commitment in supporting the next generation of accounting professionals to prosper in a career in the industry.

“In their first few weeks at UHY, our latest cohort have shown exemplary application and an enthusiasm to learn more. We are delighted with the progress they are making and equally the level of support that our team members are going above and beyond to offer.”
