The Ambergatemuseum will be displaying an original DMC-12 at the event, which takes place at Holywell Park Conference Centre in Loughborough on 15 February 2024.
The theme of next year’s event is Blast to the Future, and it will explore how AI and digital tools will drive business growth, and how best to introduce the next generation of talent into the workforce.
The DMC-12 was produced by the DeLorean Motor Company in Northern Ireland for the American market from 1981 to 1983. Only about 9,000 units were made before the company went bankrupt.
Although not a commercial success initially and plagued by various production issues, the DeLorean gained a cult following, largely due to its role in the Back to the Future films.Today, the DeLorean DMC-12 is a sought-after collectible. Many surviving cars have been restored and are prized by collectors and movie fans.
Phil Megson, Director of Love Business founder Quiet Storm Solutions, said:
“Love Business is all about giving visitors an unforgettable experience, so what better way to mark next year’s event than with a chance to get up close and personal with a piece of movie history?
“We’re extremely grateful to Great British Car Journey for taking part and bringing the iconic DMC-12 along for the day.
“The visitor economy in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire is world-renowned, thanks to attractions like Great British Car Journey which bring people into the region and help put it on the map. Great British Car Journey will have pride of place in the exhibition hall at next year’s event to not only display the DeLorean, but also showcase the attraction and the unique experience it offers.”
Great British Car Journey is a unique Derbyshire tourist attraction that takes visitors on an interactive journey through the history and evolution of the British car industry. It allows visitors to see – andin some cases, drive – avariety of British-made classic cars from different eras.
The exhibition features around 140 British cars, each telling a story about a particular time in British social and industrial history. The cars range from iconic models like the Austin Seven, Mini, Morris Minor, Jaguar and Aston Martin to everyday vehicles like the Ford Escort and Austin Metro.
Its primary focus is to celebrate the UK’s automotive heritage, highlighting the impact of the British car industry on domestic and global scales. One of the unique experiences it offers is ‘Drive Dad’s Car’, where visitors can get behind the wheel of more than 40 classic cars, accompanied by an instructor. This feature offers a hands-on, nostalgic trip down memory lane, appealing to those who remember these vehicles from their own or their parents’ pasts.
The journey also includes interactive exhibits and multimedia displays, providing insights into the design, manufacture and cultural significance of the vehicles.
