Lincoln law firm expands team with partner appointment

Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has further expanded its Lincoln team with the appointment of employment partner Danielle Lister.

With more than 16 years’ experience, Danielle has joined Shakespeare Martineau from multi-national food company Sofina Foods Europe where she was in-house legal counsel, working across all areas of the commercial legal function but with a particular focus on employment support and litigation, data protection and commercial contracts.

Prior to this role, she headed up the employment team of a Lincolnshire-based firm of solicitors.

Danielle said:

“Shakespeare Martineau is a well-known national law firm with an excellent reputation for high-quality work and its strong culture. It also has great ambitions and really impressive growth statistics over the past few years.

“I was really keen to be part of an organisation that appears to think outside the box, and that looks to be on an exciting journey in terms of its growth and development. On top of that, I am attracted to the firm’s principled approach and keen eye on ESG. B Corporation status is an incredible achievement.

“Having always practised in Lincoln, when I heard Shakespeare Martineau had come into the market, I was keen to be a part of building a new and unique legal offering in the area with an already well-established national firm.

“Being part of a larger organisation means clients will benefit from the breadth of services available and specialists in their respective fields, but being Lincoln-based, we can focus on working within the local market in a city that is very close to my heart.”

Throughout her career, Danielle has acted for a variety of clients advising on the full spectrum of employment-related matters, including tribunal claims, negotiating settlements, HR support on grievances and disciplinary matters, TUPE transfers, and drafting policies and procedures. She has worked across a variety of sectors including education, hospitality, retail and manufacturing.

Danielle said:

“I really enjoy working with people and employment law is all about people, relationships and finding solutions to problems. It can be emotional and draining for all involved, but helping clients resolve issues and achieve their goals in a way that is right for them and their business is extremely rewarding.”

The appointment follows a raft of recent new hires for Shakespeare Martineau in Lincoln, including residential conveyancing partner Ed Atkin, private client legal director Emma Carr, agricultural associate Alex Wensor, corporate solicitor Nana Maisuradze, and senior conveyancing assistant Adam Jakubik. Following a full refurbishment, Shakespeare Martineau will be moving to its new Lincoln office hub in 12-14 St Mary’s Street, in the city’s Cornhill Quarter.

Michael Squirrell, head of Lincoln and Lincolnshire at Shakespeare Martineau, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Danielle to our team in Lincoln – her commercial and employment experience will ensure our clients’ needs are met, and her knowledge of the local market will be vital as we continue building and cementing our reputation in the area.”
