Lime Launches Lime Hero Partnership to Raise Money for Nottingham-based charity Emmanuel House

Lime, the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company — has today announced its new partnership with Emmanuel House, an independent local charity dedicated to fighting homelessness as part of the company’s ‘Lime Hero’ program in Nottingham.

The partnership will allow for the cost of each Lime ride taken within the city to be rounded up to the nearest pound, and the difference donated to the charity - with the aim of helping those facing or at risk of homelessness, rough sleeping and in crisis.

The partnership comes as recent research from charity Shelter, found that Nottingham has the highest rate of homelessness in the East Midlands, a number that Emmanuel House works tirelessly to decrease. During the first 3 months of the year, Emmanuel House saw a 48% increase in beneficiaries visiting the Support Centre, providing 754 meals, 57 hot showers and 96 appointments supporting people with health, homelessness, housing and benefits related issues.

Donations raised by Lime rides will help to support the physical and mental health of Nottingham residents, and continue to provide day-to-day living skills and support for the local community.

Lime launched its e-bike service in Nottingham earlier this year, providing residents with further sustainable and affordable transport options to the already existing large bus fleet and extensive tram network. To date, Nottingham riders have taken over 35,000 rides in the city, with 12,000 unique users.

Alice Pleasant, Public Affairs Manager at Lime said:

“At Lime, we remain committed to supporting all of the communities that we operate in. That’s why Lime is honoured to be supporting Emmanuel House in Nottingham with our latest Lime Hero partnership which aims to help raise funds for those facing crisis in the city. Riders should look out for in-app and in-email messaging on how they can support the charity and further make a difference in the local community.”

Rosie Needham-Smith, Marketing and Fundraising Officer at Emmanuel House said:

“We’re really excited to be partnering with Lime. The initiative will raise vital funds that will contribute to the running of Emmanuel House, which supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Nottingham. We rely on the support of our community to continue this work and we’re so grateful to Lime for joining us in tackling homelessness in the city.”

The introduction of Lime Hero in Nottingham is the latest launch of Lime’s global roundup donation program, which is now live in nearly 100 markets globally, across 10+ countries including: United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Australia, Israel, South Korea, Sweden, Hungary, Spain, Canada, Bulgaria, and Austria.

Since it launched, Lime Hero has raised nearly £200,000 GBP globally  for over 20 nonprofit and charitable organisations, helping support numerous local causes from wildlife conservation and air pollution, to homelessness and childhood hunger.
