NOTTINGHAM AGENCIES MOVE UP NATIONAL PR RANKING

NOTTINGHAM AGENCIES MOVE UP NATIONAL PR RANKING

Two of Nottingham’s biggest PR and digital agencies have increased their standings as part of the industry’s most prestigious league table.

Both based in the city’s Lace Market, Tank and Cartwright Communications are once again the highest ranking agencies in the East Midlands as part of the PR Week Agency Business Report 2023. The national league table of thousands of UK based PR agencies ranked Tank as 151st and Cartwright Communications as 164th – an increase for both agencies compared to the 2022 table.

Tank – headed up by Trevor Palmer and co-owners Martin Stone, Max Bevis and Phil Kelsey is now the third highest ranking agency in the whole of the Midlands and the 28th outside of London. Following another year of continued growth, Tank increased all of its rankings in the PR Week sector specific tables, being named 45th in the UK for its tech credentials and 80th for its consumer PR work.

Cartwright – led by former journalist Liz Cartwright, alongside directors Rose Hayes and Annie Brafield also saw significant increases, ranking as 31st outside of London and 39th in the B2B PR table, reflecting the agency’s strength in property and construction as well as growth in healthcare and professional services.

Commenting on the new league table, Max Bevis, director at Tank, said:

“2022 was a year of significant growth and investment for Tank, resulting in our best year to date. We appointed a dedicated people director, created 12 new roles and launched a stand-alone specialist digital PR team, helping to secure several high profile consumer retainers. Our reputation in the tech sector also continues to go from strength-to-strength, winning a number of international technology accounts, including AI and analytics giant SAS UK.

“Being named as the top performing East Midlands agency for a third consecutive year is testament to the most important part of Tank – our people. Alongside Cartwright Communications, we are clearly demonstrating the power of non-London centric creative businesses.”

Annie Brafield, director at Cartwright Communications, said:

“It’s great to see both agencies rising up the rankings year-on-year, reflecting the strength of our businesses and the creative industries in the region. We’re proud to represent the Midlands, from both Nottingham and Birmingham, as well as now building on what we offer to a very different London market.

“The PR Week Agency Business Report 2023, alongside being named the 42nd small business by Great Places To Work in its 2023 Best Workplaces rankings, not only reflects our growth and ambition but shows how we are successfully balancing profitability and size, while creating a positive environment for all those who work for and with us.”

Founded in 2010 by PR consultant, Trevor Palmer, Tank works for clients such as YorkTest, Serif and The Access Group, and works across multiple sectors including technology, retail, property and construction, leisure and hospitality, health and fitness, and finance.

Operating regionally, nationally and internationally, Cartwright Communications was founded in 2006 by ex-journalist Liz Cartwright and works for clients such as Ringtons, Lovell Homes, Willmott Dixon and Branston.  The agency works across a wide range of sectors including property and construction, building products, professional services, food and drink, retail and healthcare.
