Designed for students who are leaving school this year, these sessions aim to provide everything you need to know about what apprenticeships are - so that you can make informed decisions when it comes to the next step in your academic journey. Parents and Guardians are also welcome to attend, so that you are well-equipped to support your child through their Post-16 transition.
Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to train for a successful and fulfilling career, and to get paid while you train. They are real jobs with real employers, with a dedicated training programme attached so that apprentices can gain valuable on-the-job training and experience whilst gaining their nationally-recognised qualification.
During the drop-in sessions, aspiring apprentices can:
SMB College Group work with hundreds of employers across a wide range of industries – from Early Years to Construction, Agriculture, Hairdressing and lots more. So wherever your career aspirations lie, SMB College Group is likely to have an apprenticeship option for you.
Interested? Pop along to the College’s Stephenson Campus on Tuesday 7th or Thursday 9th February between 4 and 6pm to meet the college’s dedicated apprenticeships team and find out everything you need to know about Apprenticeships.
There’s no need to register and you are not required to stay for the full two hours.
Alternatively, you can get in touch with the team on 01530 519 001 or email apprenticeships@smbgroup.ac.uk. You can also visit the college at their next open evening to have a go at some hands-on activities in your chosen subject area – head to www.smbcollegroup.ac.uk to register.
If you’re considering an apprenticeship, take a look at what SMB College Group Construction Apprentice, Suranne Murray, who works for Winvic, had to say about her time as an apprentice so far:
‘I have enjoyed my apprenticeship so far, as sitting behind a desk all day isn’t for me - so the balance between work and college time balances out evenly for me… During my apprenticeship, I have enjoyed being challenged to learn new skills within an industry I didn’t know a lot about… Making the decision of becoming an apprentice has helped me better myself and my career path as it could take me into many job roles.’
