A decade of caring is marked with more jobs on offer

A family-run care provider is celebrating 10 years of supporting young people on the way to independence.

Safe Haven Accommodation is looking to the future, as it sets its sights on expanding and opening up more staff roles, to help even more young people to stand on their own two feet.

Nottinghamshire-based Shamraiz Younas has looked back on the past decade as founder and chief executive officer of his family’s “beloved” business, which employs more than 150 people across three offices nationwide, as well over 65 homes.

He said:

“We opened our doors for the first time on January 23, 2013, entering one of the toughest sectors in the care industry.

“From our humble beginnings 10 years ago, opening our first home in Nottingham, we now have over 65 homes spanning the UK and look to expand further in 2023."

Safe Haven Accommodation supports the country’s most vulnerable looked-after children, including UASC - (unaccompanied asylum seeking children) aged from 16 years old.

It provides them with a safe and warm home, with the firm’s dedicated staff and management team providing a nurturing environment, ensuring that the young people are safeguarded from harm and are supported in developing independent living skills that will allow them to transition to adulthood.

Most importantly, it creates an environment where the young person feels their voice will be heard and develops an instilled belief that they are worthy of being the best version of themselves.

Mr Younas says the company’s success wouldn’t be possible without his team of dedicated staff.

He added:

“We are proud to say that our company has helped over 700 young people and we have employed over 500 people in the 10 years we have been operating.

“Managing such a large operation in one of the toughest sectors has certainly had its highs and lows, which is why I am eternally grateful to those that have been by my side on my journey.

“Without the support of my colleagues, friends and family, I am not sure Safe Haven would be where it is today.

“I would also like to thank Allah SWT for the strength he has given me, and for blessing me with the self-belief and insight into creating a company that has helped mankind.”

He added:

“Safe Haven Accommodation and our other family companies have come so far, but we endeavour to take them to another level in 2023, in the hope we can help more young people and adults, whilst providing the best service in the sector.”

In addition to running Safe Haven Accommodation, Mr Younas says he is also proud of the other services where he holds Directorship and has helped to develop.

This includes Safe Sanctuary Living, a service similar to Safe Haven Accommodation, which provides accommodation and support to adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues.

He also sits on the board of Directors at Safe Roots Housing CIC, a company which specialises in supporting those affected by homelessness, substance misuse and mental health issues.

Another achievement is Inspirations Care, a children’s residential home service that cares for the country’s most vulnerable children.
