Glow room to make a return this Christmas at Victoria Centre

Victoria Centre’s popular Glow Room is set to make a return this Christmas, with new interactive elements to celebrate the centre’s 50th birthday.

The free experience, taking place between 2 December and 2 January, will treat visitors to a visual light performance featuring over 30,000 hanging lights, accompanied by popular Christmas songs and interactive, projected images.

Paying homage to the creator of the Emett Clock, Roland Emett, and his love of butterflies, one wall of the Glow Room is set to be filled with interactive butterflies that change colour when touched.

The room, situated on the upper mall, will focus on providing families with a sensory experience that invites shoppers to get into the festive spirit.

Last year, over 31,000 people took a trip through the centre’s enchanted Glow Room, raising £5,500 in voluntary donations for charity, making it one of the centre’s most popular installations.

This year, voluntary donations from visitors will go towards Victoria Centre’s new charity partner, Hope Nottingham, a one-stop community support centre and food bank provider, in partnership with the Trussell Trust.

Commenting the Glow Room’s return, Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, said:

“We’re thrilled to see the return of the much-loved Glow Room; an experience which provided thousands of shoppers across Nottingham with a totally unique experience last year.

“In-keeping with the spirit of Christmas, our fantastic light display will be accompanied by the very best festive songs and shoppers will be able to immerse themselves in an interactive, sensory space.

“The Glow Room is the perfect way to round off celebrations for our 50th birthday year, so come and escape the cold and enjoy a memorable light performance at Victoria Centre.”

Performance times vary, with visitors being advised to pre-book via the Victoria Centre website.
