Leicester cancer charity growing its offer to businesses

Hope Against Cancer, Leicestershire and Rutland’s very own cancer research charity, has expanded both its team and its horizons by appointing Trace Voss as its new Corporate and Events Fundraising Manager.

With interest and support in the charity growing all the time amongst the area’s business community, Hope felt it was time to appoint someone to help businesses reap the full advantages of supporting its work.

Nigel Rose, CEO of Hope, explains:

“The modern-day relationship between charities and businesses is very much a two-way thing. Charities benefit primarily from donations and fundraising, but businesses can get a whole range of benefits in the areas of Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR), team building and employee motivation, and public recognition and goodwill. So we were looking for someone with the range of talents and, above all, the desire to make that two-way relationship work, and we felt that Trace has it all.”

After a 20 year career in education in Leicestershire, first as a teacher and then supporting childrens’ emotional needs, Trace moved into business development following an offer from a local family business. “I quickly discovered that my listening skill-set was still at the heart of most things I did”, she says.

The chance to join Hope came about through another of Trace’s key skills, networking.

“I met members of the Hope team regularly at business events”, she explains, “and my interest in what they do eventually led to talking about what I could bring to them.”

Trace has always been active in the voluntary sector and is an ambassador for Wishes For Kids. She is excited and delighted to be joining Hope and helping in its cause of funding local research and treatments that help cancer patients in Leicestershire and Rutland achieve better outcomes.

Trace is looking forward to helping expand the membership and the fundraising activities of the unique Hope Through Business club, which recently attracted 180 people from local business to its Autumn business lunch.
