City centre businesses launch Golden Ticket Prize Draw to help Derby shoppers boost their budgets and enjoy a ‘merry’ Christmas

A great initiative to encourage more people to ‘shop local’ and ‘win big’ in the run up to Christmas has been launched again in Derby.

The Golden Ticket Prize Draw, organised by the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID), and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID), will give away a whopping £2,000 to local shoppers.

Golden Tickets will be available in businesses across both Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter from Monday, 7th November, and via the Festive Derby Guide which will be delivered to households across Derby during the week commencing 14th November.

Shoppers simply have to fill them in and post them into one of twenty special Golden Ticket postboxes located across the city, by December 11th, to be in with a chance to be one of four winners on the 14th of December, chosen at random, each receiving £500’s worth of vouchers, which can be spent in local shops.

Locations of the Golden Ticket postboxes are listed on the back of the tickets, or can be found by visiting www.derbycathedralquarter.co.uk  and www.stpetersquarter.co.uk.

More than 5,000 people entered last year’s Golden Ticket Prize Draw in Derby, and the organisers claimed it was a resounding success.

Martin Langsdale MBE, chair of the Cathedral Quarter BID, said:

“This year, the BIDs have focused on organising and supporting different activities and promotions to encourage people back into the city centre.

“Last year, engagement in the Gold Ticket promotion was excellent and we think this year’s prize draw will be just as good. In today’s trying financial times, what better way to ease the burden of Christmas shopping than with a £500 boost?

“Imagine winning £500 to spend in shops across Derby right before Christmas!”

Helen Wathall MBE, chair of St Peters Quarter BID said:

“The Golden Ticket Prize Draw always attracts a huge number of entries.

“The BIDs work extremely hard to support local businesses and we have some exciting plans this Christmas, of which this is just the start! Good luck to everyone who enters their Golden Ticket into the prize draw.”
