PORTAL TO THE PARANORMAL: DESCEND INTO HAUNTED CASTLE CAVES THIS HALLOWEEN

Venture into the Victorian gothic era and deep into the unknown this Halloween, with a week of truly terrifying tours through the caves of Nottingham Castle.

From Saturday 22 October until Monday 31 October, brave thrill-seekers have been invited to descend into the Castle’s creepy caverns for a spine-tingling experience.

Each night, visitors will be transported back to October of 1877 to hear of the mysterious disappearance of several Ducal palace workers. Visitors will join the famous paranormal investigator Dr Abraham van Helsing, on a mission to uncover the truth. Be warned – those attending will need to summon their courage to face what awaits.

Cave tours with live actors will be taking place each night in the run up to Halloween, with 45-minute slots available to book from 6pm until 9pm. Suitable for those aged over 15, tickets are priced at £15 - Halloween night is strictly for over 18s, with tickets priced at £25. Suitable footwear is needed due to the uneven cave floors and minimal lighting.

There will be plenty going on during the day at the Castle including spellbinding sessions for young wizards and witches from Abramelin's Academy of Arcana. They will be working in their magical laboratory and demonstrating many real arcane skills from history, including divination, astrology, alchemy, Egyptology, dragon lore, distillation, astronomy, grimoires and herbalism.

David Johns, interim CEO at Nottingham Castle Trust, said:

“Halloween at Nottingham Castle is set to be a fantastic week of activities and experiences for all ages. Those wishing to explore the grounds during the day will be able to take part in some magical family fun, while braver souls can wait until after dark for a Victorian gothic adventure.

“Of course, the Castle and its galleries will be open as normal for those wishing to visit the Young Gainsborough exhibition and our popular Rebel Pass means general tickets now allow entry for a full 12 months. The pass will not include the Halloween cave experience but will cover anything else going on during the week.”
