This event will see avid cyclists from across the UK take on the ‘Wild Atlantic Challenge’ – a truly demanding 570-kilometre route around the beautiful peninsulas of South-West Island. Each cyclist is raising in excess of £1,250 for the charity.
Martin will join the team for the final two days. Since retiring from rugby, Martin has developed a keen interest in cycling, even attending five Tours de France live as a commentator.
Hope Against Cancer are thrilled to see Martin take a break in his busy schedule to help them in one of their main annual fundraising events, with their CEO Nigel Rose commenting:
“We are proud and honoured that Martin has chosen to take part in this exhilarating challenge! Like all charities, Hope faces an increasingly uphill struggle itself in these difficult times - and having a sports super-star participate in this event will help us raise awareness for our continuing efforts.”
Hope Against Cancer have a very clear mission – to improve and prolong the lives of those living with Cancer in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Since its foundation in 2003, the charity has funded numerous cutting-edge research projects in partnership with Leicester University and the Leicester Hospitals. They have also funded the original construction and recent doubling in capacity of the Hope Cancer Trials Centre, where treatments not yet available throughout the NHS open pathways to new and improved patient outcomes.
Large and small fundraising efforts help Hope Against Cancer continue to fund these life-changing processes.
