Miles for Smiles Support me&dee again

Miles for Smiles Support me&dee again

In 2021 The Miles for Smiles team walked 300 miles from Edinburgh to Woodville raising over £50,000 for me&dee.

We supported them as much as we could on the road with our car, from our office and across all social media channels, inviting them for a table at our annual ball too.

We were absolutely shocked and delighted, so much that both Mark and I broke down in tears, with the news that they are supporting me&dee again this year. And what a challenge they are taking on this year:

440 miles, over 16 days stopping at 33 football stadiums. Wow. The three men walking this year, setting out on August 12th, use their own annual leave and part fund the journey themselves. Words can’t describe their dedication and motivation to ensure that many more families can be supported by their fundraising. Callum set up the group six years ago when his little girl had open heart surgery and kidney failure, to give back. He is joined by good friends Jordan, whose dad recently passed away, and Joe whose wife has cancer. Challenges enough, along with not seeing their families for 2 weeks this will be the hardest slog of up at daylight, eat, walk 40+ miles, eat, shower, sleep and repeat for 16 days. They are joined by Paul Ward, their support driver. We are so grateful to We Buy any Motorcaravan Shane Malpass for the donation of a camper van, wrapped in our logos, for the duration of their journey to give them some comfort along the way on stops.

We have set up a supporting scheme called ‘I’m going the extra mile for miles for smiles’. All we are asking is that you do anything for one mile – walk, skip, jump, swim – alone, with the kids, the dog or in a group and donate £1 (minimum) on this link with the reference ‘extra mile’.

If you can upload photos, few seconds video of your mile and to wish them good luck, that would be fabulous and adds to their motivation.

We are also looking for signed merchandise from the grounds they are stopping at. If you have contacts to acquire that, we would appreciate those to auction as they walk.

Perhaps you know someone famous or of note in the area of where the grounds are who would pop along to meet them and have a photo taken. Again, this adds to the motivation and promotion of the group along with any one able to meet them along the route to support them as they walk along.

We will be covering the walk, their progress and times that they are due to call at the grounds each day across our social media channels. For any further information, please call our office on 01332 297011, mobile 07834546496 or email

me&dee is a self-funding registered charity based in Melbourne, Derbyshire. They have a small team who work relentlessly to provide memory making experiences and gifts for families facing short and uncertain futures together. They are unique in England in that they support families where the parent or the child has any life threatening, shortening, or terminal condition. Predominantly families are given a free holiday in the charity owned lodge situated in Sherwood Hideaway within Sherwood Forest. So many families face days and weeks of separation due to aggressive treatment, transplant failures, extended treatment; me&dee give the family an opportunity to have time together, away from all the stress of the hospital and medical staff, to make memories together in the best way to suit them. From 100 applications a year in 2020, this doubled in 2021 and looks to triple in 2022 as more younger parents with young children receive results for stage 4 terminal cancer. Your support is deeply appreciated. Please see our ‘support us page’ or email
