Lincolnshire crop insights firms appoints sales manager to accelerate growth in UK precision farming market

Machine-learning driven crop insights firm HarvestEye Ltd has recruited a new sales and account manager as it accelerates its growth in the precision farming market in the UK.

Ed Strawson joins HarvestEye with more than ten years of experience in the farming industry, having previously occupied sales roles at machinery manufacturers JCB and John Deere, working closely with the dealer network.

Formerly a precision farming specialist at John Deere, the experience is set to put Ed in good stead in his new role, as HarvestEye looks to bolster its operations in the UK and abroad.

Ed said:

“I’m really pleased to be joining HarvestEye at this critical point in its expansion. This is a precision farming brand that is only set to grow further in its quest to deliver deeper measurable feedback to root crop growers.

“I’m looking forward to getting out and meeting new and existing customers in the field, showcasing a technology that is only growing ever more important as profit margins continue to get squeezed across farming supply chains.”

HarvestEye provides live insights on root crops as the produce is lifted - presenting growers with valuable information on the size and count of the whole field crop, instead of conventional sampling.

Fitting to existing harvesting equipment, the technology is a low-cost method to achieve targeted agronomic performance. Data collected by the product is delivered to an online portal, making it easy for growers to market their crops more profitably.

Currently, HarvestEye is a commercial offering that is compatible with potato and onion crops, however, it is being further developed through partnerships and trials with growers to be used with other root crops.

Charlie Flack, general manager at HarvestEye, said:

Alongside his daily sales responsibilities, Ed will have his first taste of exhibition action at Potatoes in Practice on 11 August, where he will be showcasing HarvestEye’s innovative technology with team at Plot F.
