Dains and Barringtons come together for their Annual Day Out

On Wednesday 13 July the team at Dains Accountants held their Annual Dains Day Out at Uttoxeter Race Course.

This was one of the first opportunities in recent years for everyone to get together face to face and for Dains to welcome the new team members following the acquisition of Barringtons Chartered Accountants.

The sun was shinning (thankfully not as hot as recent days!) and everyone was in high spirits.  The day kicked off with presentations from Richard McNeilly, CEO where he shared some insights into his background and why he believes Dains is a great place to work and how the people at Dains inspire him.  His overarching message was one of “caring”; and the team at Dains demonstrate caring behaviours for clients, communities and each other every day.

Whilst praising everyone for their efforts during lockdown he showed a light hearted tiktok video he  made during this time with his kids which showed its not all work, work work at Dains.  We work hard and play hard.

Angela Millward, Head of HR was up next and talked about how Dains want to work with every employee to help them achieve their career goals and the ways in which they can help.   Asif Sadiq MBE, Head of Diversity at Warner Bros then took centre stage as keynote speaker for the day. Asif provided a fantastic insight into diversity and inclusion which gave everyone food for thought and the confidence to take action.Paul Marr, Head of IT shared the IT roadmap as the tech-enabled business builds scale and uses technology to deliver more for clients. Importantly, Paul made the link between efficiency and work/life balance. Dains will continue to provide the right tools for the job for all staff, which helps to improve prodictivity and eleminates waste.

Angela and Richard provided an update on Dains Climate Positive initiative,  working alongside Play it Green to ensure that the carbon footprint is comfortably offset through a program of re-forestation. All staff will have access to view the forest garden and receive regular updates on carbon reduction and buying from sustainable sources..

To finish off the day what could be better than a spot of horse racing.  The horses looked magnificent and everyone had a fantastic afternoon in the sunshine, whether they were betting with real money or just for fun.

Richard McNeilly, CEO commented:

“I couldn’t have asked for more, everyone was engaged and enjoyed spending time together and welcoming new people to the Dains team. We have a great team here and look forward to meeting our ambitious growth plans over the coming months and years”.
