Indoor beach at Victoria Centre set to heat up summer

This summer, shoppers at Nottingham’s Victoria Centre won’t have to travel far to enjoy a seaside getaway, as it prepares to launch its very own indoor beach.

Named ‘Victoria Beach’, and situated on the upper mall, the free summer installation will encourage shoppers to kick-back and relax in a nostalgic seaside scene.

Following the success of previous experiences including the Roller Room, the Glow Room and Confetti Room, Victoria Beach opens on 5 August until 29 August to kick-off a summer of fun as part of the centre’s 50th birthday celebrations.

Beach lovers will be able to recreate fond seaside memories when the experience arrives, with ten-tonnes of soft sand to enjoy, classic arcade games including PacMan and Space Invaders, as well as competitive, family-friendly games.

Shoppers can also take advantage of seaside staple photo opportunities including a 3D donkey, a campervan and ice cream stand, as well as a giant deck chair to sink into.

Open daily from 11am, 45-minute sessions at Victoria Beach are free and open to beachgoers of all ages.

Pre-booking is advised and can be completed via the Victoria Centre website, and voluntary donations towards local foodbank charity, Hope Nottingham, are appreciated.

Commenting on the debut of the ‘Victoria Beach’, Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, said:

“Over the years, shoppers have loved our exciting, seasonal experiences, and with the summer holidays just around the corner, families across Nottinghamshire will be on the look-out for fun ways to while away their days.

“Last summer, we unveiled our Roller Room and saw almost 11,000 people enjoy the temporary rink, so we’re anticipating that this experience will deliver all that we know and love about our familiar seaside staycations. So if you can’t make it to your favourite beach this year, we’ve got you covered. And you can even mark the occasion in style, with our seaside-themed photo opportunities, including much-loved donkey rides and the giant deck chair – perfect for making memories with the family.

“Although walk-ins are welcome, as our experiences have proved so popular in the past, we’re advising that shoppers pre-book their slots to avoid missing out.”

Victoria Beach runs 5 August – 29 August and is open every day from 11am – 6pm and 11am – 5pm on Sundays. Slots of 45-minutes can be booked at https://victoria-centre.com/events/victoria-beach
